The first session is focused on gathering information, developing treatment goals, and establishing a working relationship to build upon in future sessions. Brief psychological assessments are often used to assess symptom severity and to ensure an accurate diagnosis, when necessary. This is also the session that necessary paperwork is completed for medical records.
All information disclosed during our sessions is confidential and will not be released without written permission except where disclosures are required by law. Disclosures may be required in the following circumstances: when there is a reasonable suspicion of child or elder abuse, when there is a reasonable suspicion that the client presents a danger of violence to themselves or others.
